The Institute of Supervision and Leadership (ISL) held its 12th Induction and Inauguration Ceremony on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the University of Lagos, Akoka. Themed “Professionalizing Leadership: A Key Approach to Achieving Sustainable Development,” the event brought together distinguished fellows, professionals, academics, and inductees from across Nigeria to celebrate excellence, ethics, and visionary leadership. Representing the Acting President and Chairman of Council, Prof. Kayode Ilesanmi Kowale, FISL, was Mr. Emmanuel Ukpong, a member of the Governing Council, who delivered the Keynote Address on behalf of the President. The event featured keynote speeches, fellowship recognitions, professional inductions, and networking sessions that reinforced the Institute’s mission of raising a new generation of ethical and transformational leaders.
In his keynote, Prof. Kowale (represented by Mr. Ukpong) reaffirmed that the Institute of Supervision and Leadership represents Nigeria’s present and future need for effective and responsible leadership. He noted that leadership development has become a global priority, urging inductees to embody the principles of integrity, service, courage, and continuous learning. “Leadership is not about titles or authority,” he emphasized, “it is about responsibility, service, and the power to inspire others toward excellence.” He also highlighted ISL’s growing collaborations with higher institutions such as Lagos State University (LASU), positioning the Institute as a key driver of leadership transformation and professional ethics in Nigeria.
The Guest Speaker, Prof. Adeoye, delivered a thought-provoking paper that explored the strategic importance of transformational leadership in achieving national growth. He stressed that true leadership goes beyond technical ability to include emotional intelligence, accountability, and moral discipline. “Nigeria’s future depends on leaders who can transform systems, empower others, and sustain integrity in every decision,” said Prof. Adeoye, commending ISL for building a structured platform that combines leadership education, supervision training, and continuous professional development. He described the Institute as “a beacon of hope for a new era of leadership culture and institutional excellence.”
In his welcome address, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Folorunso Sam. Akinya, FISL, FCIML, ACTI, CNA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to God and the Governing Council for their steadfast support and commitment to the Institute’s growth. He outlined ISL’s vision to promote effective supervision and transformational leadership globally, its mission to develop leadership competencies from tertiary level to executive echelons, and the numerous advantages of ISL membership — including international recognition, certification opportunities, and professional collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (CIML), USA. “Our task,” Dr. Akinya declared, “is to touch the human core — to inspire, to transform, and to build leaders who will redefine Nigeria’s future.”
The ceremony concluded with the induction of new members and fellows, presentation of certificates, and renewed calls for collaboration to strengthen ethical leadership across Nigeria. The Institute also announced that its next Induction Ceremony will hold in Abuja on November 25, 2025, as part of its continued efforts to expand leadership education and capacity development nationwide.
